     Thirukalukundram Arulmigu Vedhagiriswarar Temple is one of the famous Shiva Temple in Tamil Nadu.In this Thirukalukundram Temple Lord Vedhagiriswarar is the Swayambu.Kazhugu in Tamil means eagle and kundram the hill, hence the name of the place Thiru Kazhu Kundram. Vedhagiriswarar Temple is worshiped by Eagles the name as "Kazhukasalam" Lord Mahavishnu is worshiped the name as "Vedhanarayanapuri" Lord Brahmans Worshiped the name as "Bhahmapuri" Vedhagiri, Vedhachalam, Gangasalam,Eagle Temple, Pakshi Theertham with Names.

     Thirukalukundram Arulmigu Vedhagiriswarar Temple lakshadeepam is held once in 12 Years at the time of the GURU PEYARCHI to Kanya Raasi.This temple is also called as kanni Raasi parighara Sthalam .Sangutheertha pushkara Mela and Lakshadeepam is the most famous great Thiruvizha in thirukalukundram , this is very famous equivalent to North Indian type of Pushkara mela, Kumbha Mela.The plantain tree is the sthala vriksham of the temple. Every 12 years once Sangu (conch) is born in the Sangu theertha tank, Sangu theertham having Herbal Water.This miracle happens even now.

     Two Eagles are everyday hovering over the Thirumala top of Vedagirhswarar, worshiped Him and partake the temple offerings. It is said that these Eagles take bathe in Ganges, come here to take food in the forenoon (11 Am to 12 pm), visit Rameshwaram in the evening and retires at Chidambaram in the night.
